Do you check your phone every 5 minutes?
Do you spend a good 30 minutes on your phone, as soon as you wake up?
Do you spend hours and hours of your time scrolling through various apps?
Hi, there! You are not alone in this, and all this is normal. A lot of businesses focus on grabbing our attention and ensure we spend plenty of time on phones.
So, I present to you seven hacks to help you convert your toxic relationship with your phone to a healthy one. These are all well researched, tried, and tested ones. Unless your career depends on how active you are on social media, these should work for you.
1. Track your screen time: Tracking your screen time is as important as tracking your money. A lot of apps help you do that, and they are a download away. The data would surprise you, and so start making consistent efforts in decreasing it.
2. Watch useful content: You don’t have to stay updated with the latest memes, TV-series, viral content. Carefully choose the content you watch. Watch entertaining content in moderation, and replace the rest with informative content.
3. Turn off notifications: Enable notifications only for the important apps. It helps you stay focused, and decreases the urge to grab your phone.
4. Wisely engage on social media: A lot of people post continuously during vacations. Capture a few pictures, but cherish the moments. You can later upload the pictures when you are back, from the comfort of your bed. You also get enough time to try out different filters and captions, this way.
5. Declutter your phone: You don’t need thousands of photos in your gallery. You don’t have to follow that beauty blogger, whose style doesn’t resonate with you. Unfollow people. Delete unnecessary emails. Sort your photos. Have an organized phone and life.
6. No phone usage around your sleep time: No matter how much you crave to open your Instagram as soon as you wake up, don’t. Do not check your phone for at least one hour after you wake up and one hour before you sleep. This makes you a happier and peaceful person.
7. Check your phone less: Start with checking every 30 mins, and increase this time. It boosts productivity and helps in improving your attention span.
Cheers to a cheerful, meaningful, and healthy relationship with our phones!
